BUDDING dancer Scarlett Houston is jumping for joy after winning her first global hip hop title.
The 10-year-old, from Read, took part in the UDO World Street Dance Championships in Glasgow alongside her best friend Sadie Quinn, 10, from Prestwich.
Scarlett, who attends Read St John’s CE Primary School, competed in the under 12 category.
The youngster is a former British Classic Dance Champion in her age group.
She first took to the dance floor when she was six and dreams of becoming a professional dancer.
She said: “It was great to win because the competition was really tough and it was nice to beat everyone from across the world.
“I really want to be a dancer when I grow up because I love doing it.”
Scarlett’s mum, Samantha, 40, said: “The whole family are very proud of her and it was amazing to see her perform at the competition.
“I just could not believe that she had won and it was a real shock.
“She has worked so hard and she loves what she does.
“Scarlett doesn’t really have much time for any other hobbies because she goes to dance classes almost every day.
“The whole family are always right behind her and we are all hoping that this is not the last title that she wins."
