Cider and Ale festival in Darwen 'a great success'
9:01am Tuesday 27th August 2013 in News
THE organiser of Darwen Real Ale and Cider Festival said it had been a great success.
The event ran from last Friday until yesterday and saw 19 pubs across the town put on a range of different beers.
Organiser Adam Hulme, manager of the Bridgewater and chairman of the town’s BarU scheme, said he had seen an increase in trade and the whole town had benefited.
He said: “We were really busy, especially on Saturday. And I have seen plenty of people out doing the trail and with their cards.”
Leaflets advertising the participating pubs were available with space for a stamp and, if half or a pint of beer was bought in 10 or more venues, a free T-shirt was available.
Mr Hulme said: “The whole point of this festival is to get people visiting a lot of different pubs and to get the fringe venues involved.
“From that perspective, it has been a great success.”
Mr Hulme said he was already looking to next year’s event.
He said: “We just want it to grow and grow and I am always looking for people to help organise the event.”
