A CAR owner turned detective after property was stolen from his car overnight.
Blackburn magistrates heard Daniel Hempenstall ‘asked around’ about who was responsible for the theft and was pointed in the direction of Alex Bleasdale. He confronted Bleasdale who was persuaded to return some property and help Mr Hempenstall recover other items.
Bleasdale, 27, of Ribbleton Drive, Accrington, pleaded guilty to stealing from Mr Hempenstall and possession of amphetamine and asked for six offences of theft to be taken into consideration. He was sentenced to 18 months community supervision with a nine months drugs rehab order and £500 compensation to pay. Catherine Allan said the seven theft offences generated a compensation claim in excess of £3,000.
Jonathan Taylor, defending, said his client had problems, adding: “Hopefully he will now get some help from the probation service and it is up to him to knuckle down and make the most of that help.”
