'Elvis' visits Blackburn in aid of Age UK
2:11pm Thursday 8th August 2013 in News
A HIP-swivelling king of pop tribute night for charity has been hailed a success after £745 was raised.
The rock ‘n’ roll line-up saw US celebrities and former colleagues of Elvis Presley, Marilyn Mason, Dan Haggerty and Charles Stone grace the stage to raise funds for Age UK Blackburn with Darwen.
Fans of ‘The King’ packed into Blackburn’s King George’s Hall to watch Elvis tribute acts before meeting the stars and taking part in a big prize raffle.
The money will be used to support the independent charity, which has helped thousands of people each year since 1976.
Vicky Shephard, chief executive of Age UK Blackburn with Darwen said: ”We would like to thank everyone who attended and supported the event, bought raffle tickets and artistes for all their work.
“It was a great evening with all monies going to support local work and services of the organisation for the coming year.”
