THE cousin of a Hoddlesden four-year-old with neuroblastoma has raised almost £1,000 towards vital therapy treatment by walking to Darwen Tower in her pyjamas.
Chloe Kenyon, second cousin of Sam Shaw, who herself had a five-hour operation in January to have metal bars inserted in her spine to straighten it, completed the walk alongside 20 friends and family members on March 30.
So far she has collected £840 in sponsorship money and is hoping to reach £1,000. Sam’s parents, Christine and Carl, have embarked on a campaign to raise £250,000 to pay for immunotherapy treatment in the US.
Chloe’s mum, Cathy, said: “She completed the walk although it did take it out of her and it took a few days to recover her strength.
Everyone enjoyed it, especially as it was for such a good cause.”
More than £16,500 has so far been raised via online donations site Just Giving.
