A BLACKBURN teenager has been selected as one of just 25 youngsters to train as a professional dancer at an elite school.
Nicola Caton, 17, secured her place at the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance after attending auditions open to applicants worldwide.
The ballet and contemporary dance course involves intensive training programmes, and professional performance experience.
Nicola, who is currently studying dance A-Level at St Mary’s College, in Blackburn, said: “My time at St Mary’s College has prepared me creatively, and technically, for this professional dance training and I am so excited about the opportunity to train as a professional.”
Elissa Best, the head of dance at St Mary’s College, said: “Nicola’s aim has always been to study dance, perform as a professional, and tour with a company. To secure a place at Rambert is an outstanding achievement that will allow her to train at the longest-established professional dance school in the country. We are incredibly proud of Nicola.”
