CAB staff prepare for benefits 'flood'
6:34pm Wednesday 20th March 2013 in News
CITIZENS Advice staff and volunteers are getting ready for a flood of inquiries when the Government’s welfare and benefits reforms start next month.
Workers have undergone extra training on the changes, which are said to be the biggest in at least a generation, and they are preparing to handle an expected upturn in calls.
Diane Gradwell, district manager for Lancashire West CAB, said: “The Government and local authorities are doing all they can to inform people about the changes but many may still be unsure and turn to the CAB for advice. Our staff and volunteers are all fully trained to advise on these and many other issues and we will be happy to help wherever we can.”
Anyone living in the Chorley, West Lancashire, South Ribble or Wyre Districts can talk in confidence to a trained CAB assessor via 01772 424282.
