Blackburn College Bollywood night raises charity cash

A BOLLYWOOD-themed night hosted by Blackburn College raised more than £300 for the Rossendale Hospice.

The four-course meal entitled A Taste of Bollywood was held at the Sylet Bangla Restaurant in Langho and was organised by three BA (Hons) hospitality management students from the university centre.

Students donned traditional dress for the occasion, which contributed to the college’s pledge to raise £25,000 for the charity this year.

The event was one of many to mark the college’s 125th anniversary and was attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Blackburn.

Stephanie Haworth, course leader, said: “This type of event enables our students to learn practical skills and if we’re able to benefit a worthy charity along the way then it’s even better for both the students and the community.

“The students got into character on the night they worked very hard to ensure everyone had a great time and a delicious meal.”
