Darwen printing firm seeks new recruit

A PRINTING company set up by two school pupils has done so well it is now looking to take on an apprentice.

Inkthreadable, in Almond Street, Darwen, specialises in printing T-shirts and personalised gifts.

It was set up in January 2011 by teen couple Alex Cunliffe and Amy Dunn, both 17, who started the business from home while studying for their GCSEs.

The pair were given an Assistance to Industry grant by Blackburn with Darwen Council towards a new printer, which led to the creation of the business.

The firm, based at Babywise Mattresses is looking for an apprentice aged between 16 and 24.

Coun Dave Harling, executive member for regeneration, said: “This is exactly what the Assistance for Industry grants are for, helping companies grow and create jobs. It is fantastic they are now looking at taking on apprentices, giving a young person a chance to learn a new skill and set them up for the future.”
