A MAN who died after falling from a notorious accident black spot in the Lake District has been named as Billington man Martin Peel.
The 35-year-old from Lancashire, was with two friends when he fell from Walker's Gully on Pillar Rock in Ennerdale, on Monday shortly before 2pm.
The Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team, the North West Air Ambulance and an RAF Sea King helicopter were scrambled to help the walker but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was recovered by the mountain rescue team.
Cumbria Police praised the operation which took place in what were described as difficult conditions and terrain.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious and police are preparing a file for the coroner.
