East Lancashire apprentices honoured

THE achievements of future highways engineers, accountants and office managers for Lancashire County Council were recognised at a special event at county hall.

The celebration was hosted by County Coun Michael Devaney, vice-chairman of the authority, which has supported more than 1,200 apprentices since 2006.

The council is to invest £10m to support 14 to 24-year-olds across Lancashire in work experience and apprenticeship opportunities in the public and private sectors.

County Coun Devaney said: “Apprentices are the future of the council.

“Through their experience and on-the-job training, they learn specialist skills that equip them for a number of roles.”
