Marie Curie volunteers needed in Darwen

MARIE Curie Cancer Care is still looking for Darreners to donate an hour of their time this week to collect for the charity’s annual Great Daffodil Appeal.
Collections have been organised at Darwen Market on Friday and at Asda in School Street on Friday and Saturday, March 8 and 9. Stephanie Lacaille, community fundraiser for Darwen, said: “We need 20 local people to help with our collections this March. Donating just one or two hours of your time to the appeal will allow Marie Curie nurses to provide more free care to local people with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes.
“On average, an hour’s collecting raises enough to fund two hours of nursing so it is a chance for people to make a real difference here in their community.”
