The image of the catholic club needs to be raised, this is the reason why no one uses it. Some clever marketing and a name change should do it, not that I have any issues with it's current name, but it doesn't exactly jazz the place up. Nice friendly staff and reasonable prices make this an ideal resource to use.

I agree with Whitehall Rover. Re-branding is long overdue.

The Catholic club has been enduring a slow death for years, not helped by unhelpful people running the place who have put off a number of breweries from getting involved with the place. New, customer and supplier-friendly people are required firstly to run the club then perhaps the club could look to get backing from local businessmen. Perhaps, to this end, Ted Ward could be approached?

Hear hear old aggies killers. The town, not just the Catholic Club, needs investment from entrepreneurial visionaries like Ted Ward, the last person to put Darwen on the map.He did more for the town than any local politician, thanks to whom Darwen now resembles 1980's Beirut. One suspects that the Labour councillors are eyeing up the Cath Club so that, when it inevitably closes, they can acquire it for some loony-left, crypto-neo-pseudo Trotskyist barmpot scheme like turning it into a refuge for displaced Uttar Pradesh eunuchs.

Perhaps Ted Ward could be approached, if you find him the police would be very eager to hear of his wereabouts.
As would many people who have been left out of pocket.

Many people? You mean yourself? If Ted Ward was that bad the police would have arrested him by now. As it was, he was driven out of Darwen by a lack of support from the locals, especially the useless Labour councillors. If people had've backed him, AFC Darwen would still be Darwen FC, playing in league 2 in place of Yeovil Town, in a 30,000-seater stadium at Robin Bank. Ted wasn't squeky-clean but you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.
