Rumours over closure of Darwen Catholic Club are quashed
11:27am Wednesday 6th February 2013 in News
DARWEN Sunnyhurst councillor Dave Smith has quashed rumours that Darwen Catholic Club is to close.
He said: “It has been a tough time, as it has for a lot of places. I think the club is a bit of a hidden gem as it is tucked away so people don’t see it.”
Coun Smith said the club had two ‘good quality’ snooker tables and was looking for people to form snooker and darts teams.
The club, in Wellington Fold, opposite the leisure centre, also has a function room and meeting room that can be used free of charge by groups in the town.
Coun Smith added: “Despite the name, you don’t have to be a Catholic to come in.”
