Deadline in sight for Darwen's young artists

CHILDREN in Darwen have until February 15, to submit artwork to a competition launched by the town’s MP.

Jake Berry has asked schoolchildren across Darwen to draw their vision of life in the town.

Creative primary school pupils are invited to put pencil, paint or pastel to paper for the new competition, with posters being judged on their originality and expression of the theme.

Works of art will then be put on display in Mr Berry’s office in the town.

The top entry will be printed on canvas and put on display for everyone to see in the Darwen constituency office.

Two runners-up will also have their work put on show.

Entries should be on A4-sized paper showing a typical Darwen scene, and with the entrant’s name and contact details on the back, sent to Jake’s constituency office at 7a Railway Road, Darwen, BB3 2RG.

Winners will be notified in the week commencing February 18.
