A SERIAL drink-driver escaped an immediate prison sentence despite a spate of offences.
Blackburn magistrates heard David Nicol Hayes was on bail to Oldham magistrates for drink driving when he was stopped and refused to provide a specimen on November 22.
He was banned for the Oldham offence but was again caught behind the wheel in Accrington six days later.
Hayes, 39, of Haworth Street, Rishton, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and while disqualified, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and two charges of driving without insurance.
He was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison suspended for two years, made subject to community supervision for 12 months with an alcohol treatment requirement, banned from driving for three years and fined £180.
