RIBBLE Valley MP Nigel Evans has signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment ahead of Holocaust Memorial Day on January 27.
Mr Evans said he thought the book was a good way for people to show support for the remembrance day.
He said: “It is important to both remember the Holocaust and to use the memory of it to work towards a future without prejudice and hatred.
“I would encourage Ribble Valley community organisations, churches and youth groups to hold events on or around Holocaust Memorial Day. The theme for 2013 is Communities Together: Build a Bridge, which asks us to remember those who were forced to live through experiences where their neighbours were encouraged to isolate, reject and even attack them.
“The Holocaust Educational Trust are asking people to honour communities that were destroyed in the Holocaust and in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.”
