ACTS for a 2013 music festival in the Ribble Valley have been announced.

RibFest13, which will be held in Chipping from March 1 to 3, will feature an eclectic mix of national and local names including East Lancashire favourites Sweeney Astray, who will be the support act for Friday headliners The Travelling Band.

Saturday evening will see the return of Ian McNabb showcasing his new album in the North West for the first time, and Sunday evening’s entertainment will be provided by Liverpool legend Ian Prowse.

He will bring his own brand of Celtic rock to the stage and, with his bandmates, will perform all the Pele and Amsterdam classics including Does This Train Stop on Merseyside.

Saturday and Sunday afternoons will provide a more relaxed atmosphere with performances from George Borowski, Hence The Tortoise, Pete Aldridge Band and The Susie Jones Band Event organiser Carl Barrow, from Hollow Horse Events, said he expected tickets to sell out for all three days.

He said: “We have done the festival before in Ribchester, but that was on a smaller scale.

“We managed to get hold of Chipping Village Hall, so it will be a bigger than we could before.

“We have got really good bands on this year, some of which are starting national tours and promoting albums.

“We are also hoping that some of the pubs will get on board too so that we could have some music classes for people wanting to learn to play an instrument.”

Tickets are £9 for Friday night, £10 for Saturday and Sunday nights and £4 for each afternoon.
