SEVERAL changes are in the pipeline for bus services across East Lancashire next month, it has been announced.

An overhaul of the 280-X80 service, which runs between Preston and Skipton via Clitheroe will see it renumbered from January 4.

The outgoing service from Preston will continue as the number 280, as far as Clitheroe.

But all buses bound for Barnoldswick, en-route to Skipton, will be known as the 180 in future. The service from Clitheroe along the A59 through Gisburn, will still be the X80. No changes to the route or ticketing arrangements are planned.

Meanwhile the 22 bus from Clitheroe to Blackburn will be revised to run five minutes later Mondays to Saturdays from January 6.

And peak-time journeys for the 8/8A service between Burnley and Bacup will be withdrawn, including the 7.20am bus to Bacup and the 7.50am, 4.55pm and 5.55pm services to Burnley.

From January 29 Rossendale Bus is set to withdraw all Monday to Saturday daytime services the 63A/63C route linking Rawtenstall, Newchurch and Waterfoot.

Minor amendments will be made to the timetabling of the 463 Wallbank to Rochdale service.
