Darwen building site is not a play area, children warned
4:00pm Friday 21st December 2012 in News
SCHOOLCHILDREN were warned not to play on construction sites during a visit from a housebuilder.
Experts from Miller Homes visited Sudell Primary School as part of a county-wide initiative in conjunction with the police to warn of the dangers of building sites.
The ‘We don’t play on your playground – so please don’t play on ours’ session was devised to help under-11s understand that the Miller Homes development at Woodland Park, a short walk from Darwen town centre, is not a play area.
Miller’s health, safety and environment officer, Lee Jones, said: “With our Woodland Park development being located so close to Sudell Primary School, we felt it was very important to build relationships with the school and look after the children’s safety while some building work remains under construction.”
Susanne Procter, pupil welfare officer at Sudell Primary School, said: “Our students’ welfare and safety in and around the school campus is top of our agenda.
“Miller Homes’ site safety session fit well with our lessons on community.
“And the fun element to the session was a great way to educate and inform them about living in a safe and responsible way.”
