A PROBLEM culvert in Birch Hall Avenue, Darwen, which has caused numerous flood problems for residents over the years, overflowed again on Monday.
People living in the houses directly in front of the culvert entrance had to dig a trough to stop the water running into gardens on Friday after heavy rains caused it to flood.
Blackburn with Darwen Council said the entrance had been vandalised and sent sandbags in a bid to prevent serious flooding to homes and gardens.
But at 5pm on Monday, water was seen spilling across the fields and into the road.
Birch Hall Avenue resident Glenn Evans has called on the council to act.
He said: “The council told me they had done checks and found the problems, but they have gone quiet for the past two weeks.
“I hope this near-miss, which could have resulted in far worse consequences had there been a bit more water, sparks the council into action.”
