A LEAGUE table has recognised Lancashire Care Foundation Trust as the top achieving NHS organisation in the county for their contributions to equality and diversity.

The system, developed by the Department of Health, aims to eliminate prejudice and discrimination and make services more personal and diverse.

The table has also named the trust as one of the highest performing anti-discriminatory bodies in the North West.

Clive Taylor, equality and diversity lead at Lancashire Care, said: “This demonstrates the fact that we’re working to improve things for our diverse patients, carers and staff.

“We’ve received an overwhelming amount of support from staff here and it’s been great to see people get on board and really think about what they can do to improve patient care and the working environment for those from diverse backgrounds.”

Over the past 12 months it has brought in its own equality and diversity agenda after working closely with other organisations to look at issues within local communities.
