Clayton-le-Dale man left taxi to drive home
2:36pm Monday 26th November 2012 in News
AN event manager mismanaged his taxi home and ended up being breathalysed.
Blackburn magistrates heard Marco Vaghetti left his car in Whalley and took a taxi but after collecting a meal from McDonalds the driver demanded payment up front.
They returned to Whalley so Vaghetti could get some cash but the cabbie flagged down a police officer before driving off.
And when Vaghetti got in his car to drive home the same police officer pulled him over and breathalysed him.
Vaghetti, 27, of Ribchester Road, Clayton-le-Dale, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. He was fined £200 with £105 costs and banned from driving for 17 months. He gave a reading of 71 against the legal limit of 35.
Trevor Leach, defending, said Vaghetti had made the correct decision to get a taxi home but later made the wrong decision to drive home.
