PARENTS are being reminded to park considerately outside a Darwen school following the launch of a campaign last week.

Youngsters at St Joseph’s Primary School displayed banners with the message ‘What will it take to stop you parking here? A warning? A fine? An injured child?’ as part of a police safety drive.

Messages were also sent home to parents to warn them about the dangers posed to children by motorists parking on zigzag lines.

Now officers are saying they will this week carrying out additional patrols to target drivers who put people’s safety at risk.

They are also urging anyone with information about culprits to contact them.

PCSO Danielle Derbyshire said: “These restrictions are there for a good reason and drivers who park on them are putting children and other pedestrians in danger.”

Anyone who wishes to report drivers for parking illegally on zigzag lines can contact police on 101.
