Blackburn takeaway proposal withdrawn
10:00pm Thursday 15th November 2012 in News
PLANS to create a hot food takeaway and eating area, in Plane Street, Blackburn, have been withdrawn after more than 20 objections.
Two petitions were sent to the borough council – one supporting the idea, and one calling for the scheme to be rejected.
Now Blackburn with Darwen Council planning committee has been told the proposal has been withdrawn.
In September, a 94-signature petition supporting the creation of a hot food takeaway, and first floor eating area, was noted by councillors.
A second 23-signature petition was due to be considered by the committee next week.
It objects to the plan on the grounds of parking, litter, fears of rat problems, disruption to local residents, and traffic problems for parents dropping, and collecting, children at the nearby school, and worshippers using the adjacent mosque.

This article merely hints at the delights of what this new place could be. I, for one, am quiverring with anticipation to find out what it could be.
Some of the residents want it, some don't - petitions, unhappy mosques - it all adds to the mystique. Maybe there's danger involved with the food. Maybe it's going to be a Japanese Tepenyaki place which sells Blowfish. Maybe a Peruvian restaurant selling Guinea Pigs. Goodness..even a Cambodian restaurant with tarantulas roasted in banana leaves in a massive charcoal pit that will burn continuously for the next 100 years.
I can't wait to see how this progresses.
