Darwen charity shop to reopen after revamp
4:00pm Friday 2nd November 2012 in News
A CHARITY shop in Darwen that was closed for refurbishment is to reopen tomorrow.
Age UK, in Market Street, has undergone a refit, and will be reopened by Darwen Town Council mayor Eileen Entwistle, at 10am.
Pauline Walsh, from the shop, said: “Our trustees decided to invest in a refit to bring the shop up to modern standards and enable it to sell more goods to raise extra funds to support our services for local older people.
“We are very grateful to all the local people who support the shop, by either donating goods, or buying from us, and take this opportunity to say thank you.”
There will be a raffle and free prize draw to enter.
The shop sells a range of donated goods, including clothing, jewellery, shoes, household items, and small electrical goods.
All funds raised support Age UK’s services for older people in Darwen.
Normal shop opening hours are Monday to Saturday, 9.15am to 4.30pm.
