Children to takeover Lancashire's top jobs

CHILDREN and young people from across Lancashire will try out top jobs this November as part of Takeover Month.

Lancashire County Council is offering children and young people the chance to shadow managers and councillors to have a say on decisions that affect their lives.

Activities will include shadowing County Councillor Tony Winder, chair of the Corporate Parenting Board, brainstorming deas for a new logo for the Lancashire Participation Network, and working with Helen Denton, executive director for children and young people.

Takeover Month is based on the idea of national Takeover Day, which takes place on Friday, November 23.

County Councillor Mark Perks, cabinet member for young people, said: “Takeover Day has been running for several years and has proved very successful nationally.

“However, we wanted to extend it to a whole month in Lancashire to ensure young people can make the most of the opportunities on offer.”
