Blackburn MP Jack Straw is honoured by the Turkish government (From Lancashire Telegraph)

Pity he hasn't don't anything for Blackburn! Name one project here that he's pushed through parliament! Too busy earning £100k a year on his spare time jobs when should not have any spare time as an MP! More of a friend to the Turks than the Lancastrians me thinks

He should be getting an award in Islamabad next then !

He spent most of his time kowtowing to the muslims over here so the turks are bound to give him some award . I believe he also wants turkey in the e u . No surprises there eh !
Yet we don't get a vote to come out of the e u .

Oh dear, a straw o phile!! This man is a complete tosser, took his books on display in whs smiths today from the window and put it in the crime section. Didnt go down well? Straw deserves fcuk all, what has he really done for blackburn? Apart from making a complete **** of himself with the yank bird at t'rovers?

When will blackburn wake up and say we dont want a southern tosser,like straw, to be our mp and lets make it a local issue

I have to very much agree with Spike & Monkey Bucket the man has promoted his self not Blackburn in fact l would not be suprised if Modan was not Jack Straw the Bull sounds like him. Jack Walker was a diferent type of man all to gether.

'Jack Straw has been given one of Turkey’s highest awards for being ‘a politician who approaches the Islamic world and Muslim societies with sincerity and friendship’. Have they forgoten about his illegal war in Iraq that resulted in the deaths of 118,000 civilians. He'll do anything to distance himself from this to keep his muslim vote strong. Hopefully by the next election he and Venkys will be long gone from our town.

Six years ago this month Jack Straw argued his case for urging Muslim women who attend his MP's surgery to remove their hijab. He said that he wanted to start a debate. In this, at least, he was successful.

And so Muslim women passed, in the public imagination, from being actually among the group most likely to be racially attacked to ostensibly being a primary cause of social strife – roaming the land in search of white teenagers to physically harass. This inturn gave way to racists, being able to justify their racism as rightful. since New Labour's politics enabled the far right, it is in no position to disable it. Those far right groups and political parties are bottom feeders. But the system is rotting from the head down.

On the other hand, you also got to remember that one of the leading fathers of New Labour, marginalised the white working class by standing "shoulder to shoulder" with minority groups in Blackburn, Northwest and across the world.

Assuming they had nowhere else to go, a s**t load of the white working class found their way into the arms of the far right.

While Jack Straw recognised that racism is a problem, it never seemed to occur to him that anti-racism might be the solution.

What he really did was back both sides and leave them in the creek. Never the less, this should not obscure some of the positive things Jack Straw and Labour has done for Blackburn.

Sincerity and friendship ?? Do the same in return Turkiye and return Amani Khansia to his mother in Blackburn.

Like or Hate him Jack has been our MP since 1979 in a safe Labour seat in Northern working class town like Blackburn with the rest like Preston,Burnley,Bolt
on,Manchester and Liverpoo are red through and through.Jack has served Blackburn well and has worked hard for the town and the people of Blackburn.While he was a Home Secretary and Foreign Secretary under Tony Blair government he has put the town on the map along with late Jack Walker with his investment in Blackburn Rovers FC. Jack Walker MP has brought lot of investment in this town like the Super Hospital,University Centre, Roads,Health Centres,new hosing estates, etc etc.The Tories invest in their own safe seats around the country ,the tories neglected town like Blackburn when they were in power.It was 18 years of Maggie Thatcher Government did nothing for Blackburn.Unemployme

wn centre and Hospital,college were all crumbling under Thatcher Government.When the Labour came in power in 1997 thats when more and more investment came to Blackburn.While Late Jack Walker invested his vast fortune into his beloved Blackburn Rovers FC .People of Blackburn have short memories it was the Tory Government of 1979 to 1997 that destroyed Blackburn town.It was the Walker family sold this great club to Venkys of India.Many top British Companies are owned by the Indians,British Steel,Land Rover/Jaguar,Tetley Tea,Northern Foods and many more,Britains Richest man is a Indian Laxmi Mittal the man who owns the largest Steel companies around world.Many Asian own business in Blackburn/Darwen,lik
