Poultry fans expected to flock to Clitheroe show

A SHOW is set to attract poultry owners from across the country on Saturday.

Over 750 exhibits will see rare and exhibition poultry, waterfowl and eggs coming to Clitheroe Auction Mart.

David Kay, president of the Ribble Valley Poultry Society, said: “We aim to attract a lot of the people who are becoming interested in keeping fowl, and there will be a wonderful choice of breeds for everyone to see and advice about where people can purchase them.

“All the traditional English breeds will be there – you’ll be able to see the ones that have been bred in England for hundreds of years.

“Rhode Island Reds, Leghorns, Marans, Wyandottes and a vast array of Bantams, to mention but a few.”

On sale at the RVPS 52nd annual meeting will be necessities required for keeping poultry, such as food containers and water fountains.

Judging will take place in the morning before the doors are opened to the public at noon.
