Stocks debut for bus builder

THE parent company of the former East Lancashire Coachbuilders has started trading on the London Stock Exchange.

Darwen Holdings plc has been admitted on to the Alternative Investment Market of the LSE and has issued 49,293,145 shares which were trading at 36p at close of play on Friday.

The company, which owns Darwen Group coachbuilders, based at Whitebirk Industrial Estate, Blackburn, specialises in the design, assembly and supply of single and double-deck vehicles to bus service operators in the UK.

Commenting on the admission, chief executive Andrew Brian said: "The AIM admission will support our strategic progress and provide our shareholders with greater visibility of value as the business grows.

"We have strong technical know how, design innovation and engineering excellence within the company, and a strong reputation within the industry.

"The admission will further cement this reputation with our business partners and customers, supporting our goal to become a true leader in passenger vehicle design and assembly."

Fix the bus shelters, All over Blackburn says...

I guess we don't have a bus stop builders in Blackburn though, looking at the state of some of the relatively new shelters.

Any chance of actually doing some maintenance on them Capita as our council taxes are paying for this?

A new light bulb and a couple of panes of glass in mine please!
