Blackburn reveller has jaw broken in New Year’s Eve pub row

A NEW Year’s Eve reveller is in hospital with a broken jaw following a ‘melee’ in a pub.

The 26-year-old local man was inside The Griffin pub, Griffin Street, Blackburn, when a fight broke out just after 10.30pm.

Police said the man was assaulted by more than one person during a melee and that the argument was ‘drink-related’.

He suffered injuries consistent with being punched, pushed and shoved and was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.

The incident took place close to the pool room entrance.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack.

Contact 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

I am quite surprised to hear that there was enough people in there to cause a fight.I have only visited the place a couple of times and on each occasion there was only a couple of old boys in smelling of pee or was that the smell of the toilets wafting through the bar..?
