FORMER entrances to a Blackburn underpass were concreted shut yesterday.
Workers first built a breeze-block wall, before pouring concrete to ground level.
The entrances led to the underpass under Salford in the town centre, linking the market and Railway Road areas.
But they had been cordoned off for several years as the steps were in a dangerous condition.
The underpass can still be accessed by a separate entrance.

Why couldn't they have spent the money repairing the steps?
Oh yeah, that involves logic and common sense, that's the council ruled out then...

Given this logic, I can see the pothole outside my house having a wall being built around it or even the entire road closed, rather than a bit of tarmac thrown in. The chavs do love to claim off the Council though, as it doesn't hit their pocket given they don't pay any Council tax! Possibly we should ban all steps, to follow the smoking, drinking, fatty food, supermarket plastic bags bans.
