'Burnley Taxpayer', that's a very silly thing to say. Why should drug posession (as long as it is for personal use) land someone in jail? I know successful businessmen who smoke cannabis, should they be jailed?

I think the real injustice here is that with 10 seperate bags on him he obviously was planning to sell it. You don't buy 10 seperate bags of weed for personal use, as you tend to get a lot less that way.

10 bags of an illegal and harmfull drug in his possession and he still gets a conditional discharge!
Until we make possessing drugs an offence that carries a harsh sentence we won't make any inroads into dealing with the drugs problem. locking up dealers alone won't work. Cut demand by draconian and humiliating punishment for any drug possession (forget that pathetic cop-out about 'personal use')and then maybe we reduce the supply.
