RESIDENTS in the Infirmary area of Blackburn could receive a free security upgrade including new locks and security lighting, under a new scheme.
The surveys and upgrades will be carried out by Groundwork Pennine Lancashire, the environmental charity.
Coun Salim Lorgat, executive member for housing, said: “The scheme is aimed at improving the security of residents, so that they feel safe in their homes.”
Nick Riley, director of Groundwork Pennine Lancashire, added: “This work will seek to ensure that residents feel that they are able to live in a safe environment. It also helps to improve community confidence which will bolster house prices in the area and help stabilise the local housing market.”
