A man who pledged his love in two foot high letters on a motorway bridge has appeared in court charged with harassing his former partner.

Peter Mooring, 32, of Whipp Avenue, Clitheroe, pleaded not guilty to harassing Kerry McKenna and was remanded on bail with conditions he does not contact Miss McKenna or go near her home in Accrington.

Basharat Ditta, defending, said his client had sent Miss McKenna flowers and text messages seeking to rekindle their romance as well as painting love messages on the motorway bridge but said this did not amount to harassment.

The messages on the footbridge over the M65 near Walkersteel at Guide, read: "I love you Kerry McKenna" and on the other side; "I miss you Kerry McKenna."

This should be an easy one for the magistrates - sentence him to community service starting with cleaning that motorway bridge that the numbskull put his message on.

Could someone please explain to me how this silly man who is besotted with this woman managed to write on a bridge above the motorway? Myself and my partner tried figuring this out when we saw it and could not work out how he had graffited the brindge.

How odd your mind must work. Why would she write "I love you Kerry McKenna" and "I miss you Kerry McKenna" about herself?

You can pretty much guarantee it will still be there in 5 years time so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Would be better if they made him scrub it clean.

What about charging him with criminal damage? I hope my taxes aren't going to be wasted cleaning up this idiot's graffitti.
