TWO men who sent poisoned vodka through the post to a Blackburn councillor and a journalist have today been jailed for six years.

Wayne Cook, 45, and Steven Robinson, 42, both from Greater Manchester, posted a lethal concentration of caustic soda in miniature bottles as part of a campaign for Scottish independence.

The two packages were sent to Blackburn with Darwen councillor John Wright and Scottish Daily Express journalist Myra Philp in April 2007.

One of the bottles was accompanied by a note which threatened to kill English people "at random and with no discrimination or compunction" and to poison England's water supply.

I would say sending Vodka laced with Poison and threatening to pollute a nations water supply is an act of terrorism.

Did the Judge get the sentence right on this score? I would of thought a attempted terrorism act of this calibre would of held a longer Prison sentence.

The terrorism laws are very confusing over what is what to the General Public. If the sentence is not long enough surely the Prosecution can take it back to the Court of Appeal. I am not saying the Judge was wrong on this score I accept the Judge may of made a human error.
