A MAN was found staggering along a street with a serious head injury.

The man was found in St Phillip's Street, Bank Top, Blackburn, at 4.50pm on Saturday by an off-duty police community support officer, who was able to alert the emergency services.

The man appeared to be suffering from a serious head injury and was taken by ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital, where he was last night said to be in a 'poorly' condition.

Police have not been able to question the man to find out exactly what happened to him, but they believe he was attacked at an address in nearby Curzon Place before he left the property and then made his way towards St Phillip's Street.

Two women and a man, all from the Bank Top area, have been arrested on suspicion of assault. They were being interviewed by police yesterday.

Forensic officers have also examined the scene.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnesses the incident, or who may have seen the man staggering through the streets, to contact them with information on 01254 51212, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
