Police searching for missing Blackburn man find a body

POLICE hunting for a missing man in Blackburn have found a body.

Andrew O’Neill, 42, of Fielding Crescent, had not been seen since Sunday.

His body was found in the Leeds Liverpool canal this morning by police after it was spotted by a fisherman.

A police spokesman said: "At around 11:00am this morning police were called by a man who was fishing on the canal at Gladstone Terrace at Cherry Tree to say that he had found the body of a man.

Two oficers attended and the body was recovered. Alth formal identification has yet to take place.

It is believed his family have been informed.

"At this stage the death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are continuing to establish how he died.”
