Wainwright’s favourite views in new calendar

THE Wainwright Society, which celebrates Blackburn-born fell walker and author Alfred Wainwright, has released its calendar for next year.

The format includes photographs taken by society members, together with line drawings and quotations from the works of Alfred Wainwright.

For the past three years, the calendar has sold out, raising thousands of pounds for the society’s designated charities.

The calendar features 12 stunning landscape photographs of the Lake District.

All profits from the sale of the calendar will be donated to Cumbria Wildlife Trust for the Uplands for Juniper project, which is the society’s main beneficiary this year.

The calendar, available via www.wainwright.org.uk/calendar, costs £10 including P&P.

Well done the Wainwright Society. The Lake District is a fine corner of England and so near to Blackburn but it would be interesting to know what Mr Wainwright would have made of Blackburn today?
