Computer problems close Blackburn bank
3:56pm Monday 25th June 2012 in Blackburn
By Catherine Pye, Health reporter
COMPUTER problems have forced the Blackburn town centre branch of the Halifax to temporarily close today.
Concerned customers have been unable to access the bank fully since Thursday, when a combination of bad weather and a power cut damaged the servers in the building in King William Street.
One woman customer, who asked not to be named, said: “On Thursday they had to shut early because there’d been a power cut, it was okay on Friday, then ever since there’s been problems.
“Old people are having problems getting their pensions out, and young people can’t get to their money to pay bills.
“It’s a massive inconvenience for everyone because you can’t get to see anyone and their systems are down.”
A Halifax spokesperson said: “Due to a bad weather and a power cut in the area late Saturday, the servers in the branch were damaged.
“Engineers are working on site to enable us to re-open the branch as soon as possible. Customers are still able to use the external ATMs to withdraw funds. ”

Don't believe all this rubbish you hear about computer "glitches". The problem is, the banks have sacked all their IT specialists and outsourced it to India at one third the wages for incompetent staff who have not got the necessary experience. But I bet those at the top will still get their huge bonuses.
Has anyone had any trouble with HSBC cards over the last couple of days? I used mine twice, in two separate shops in Blackburn yesterday and it was refused. Before anyone states the obvious, I did have money in the account and indeed went immediately on both occasions to a cash machine and successfully withdrew money....
Just wondering if it was just me or a common problem.

I WARNED YOU ALL ABOUT THE BANKS....Take out your savings and buy as much gold silver diamonds as you can possibbly afford. I would still be at it if I had any savings left to get more. The one world government is well on its way and the pound euro all paper money won't carry your savings to The New World Order..there is going to be a new currency. How.? you go to bed one friday night and when you wake up you no longer owe anything but you no longer own anything. If you have paid off your mortgage you start again..If you owe the tax man you start again. Why do you think all those adverts flooded the British and American martets: Best price paid for your old scrap broken gold..nothing to do with the Chinese it was the ones who have caused the markets to crash worldwide that were buying up as much gold as they can before they pull the plug on the entire world economy. Its right in front of your face if you blink away from the BBC for a while. Gordon Brown well lets no go there I mean selling the best part of Britains gold when the price was at its lowest price in recorded modern history. Wonder who bought that for a rainy day?
