Top Tory hopes to help small East Lancashire businesses

A TOP Tory MP is set to meet East Lancashire business advisors today to spark interest in a scheme to boost small businesses.

Brooks Newmark, who is a government whip and Lord Commissioner of the Treasury, will visit chartered accountancy firm PM+M in Blackburn to discuss the economic issues facing companies in the area.

The Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme, which offers tax incentives to investors who bank roll companies with assets less than £200,000, will also be on the agenda.

It is thought this could kick-start a SME revival, which have often been seen as the backbone of the economy.

Stephen Anderson, managing partner of PM+M, said: “This is a great opportunity for local businesses to get to grips with how the government plans to overcome the barriers we all face.

“It’s an honour for PM+M to host this event. We are sure the discussion will be lively, and we hope everyone who attends finds it of benefit.”

PM+M has offices in Blackburn and Burnley.
