Failed mugging in Blackburn town centre

TWO yobs are being hunted after they tried to mug a woman in Blackburn town centre.

Police said the 57-year-old was walking in Astley Gate at 8.15pm on Tuesday when she was bumped into by one teenager, before another tried to steal her handbag.

She was able to fight the pair off but was left shaken and bruised by the encounter.

Det Insp Mark Winstanley said the incident saw the pair, along with another youth, flee the scene towards the Chippery in Corporation Street.

Both were described as white and in their mid to late teens.
