A BEREAVED man has been given a £100 boost towards unexpected funeral costs.
An unknown, generous Lancashire Telegraph reader sent in the money for John Fielding, of Livesey, Blackburn.
The 64-year-old was left £258 from an insurance policy taken out by his late wife’s mother Eileen Livesey, who died, aged 84, in December.
But the Department of Work and Pensions took that amount off their Funeral Payment help towards the £2,500 bill.
Mr Fielding qualifies for the benefit because he lives on Pension Credit.
He said: “I am so grateful to whoever has sent this money in, it’s very kind.”
