Blackburn chippy 'batters' opposition to win chip award

A CHIP shop has battered the opposition to win a Choice Chip Award.

Holly Tree Fish and Chips, Pinewood, Blackburn, has the Best Chippy Chips in the North West, as voted for by the public in the Choice Chip Awards for Chip Week.

Chip fans voted in their thousands in the Choice Chip Awards, with more than 400 chip shops across the country involved and 35,000 votes received at www.chips.lovepotatoes.co.uk and through voting cards placed in shops.

Michael Rose and his team were over the moon with the award.

Michael said: “It’s unbelievable – this is the second prestigious award we’ve won recently after being named Britain’s Favourite Family Chippy 2011.

“I can’t thank our customers enough for voting for us and of course, I’m grateful to the hard work and dedication of the staff. It really makes me proud to say we’ve got the best chippy chips in the region.”

i went to my local chippy and said could i have fish and chips twice please, the woman behind the counter said i heard you the first time. i said can i have a bag of chips too please she said 70 or95, i said oh if your going to count them i will have a pie.

Im sorry but i have been here a few times and although its ok it aint anywhere near the best chippy in lancashire not even close ,there are at least 10 chippys in blackpool alone that are better than this place.

I have to say that the best chippy is in Accrington, Burnley Road. Well worth a visit.

It's not the best chips. It is just that voting cards were made available to his customers when other chippy's didn't bother.

The fish and chips ARE very good, but the young lasses that serve; well, whilst they work quickly, they have few customer skills, talking to each other whilst taking an order, making mistakes and not apologising, to name a couple of issues that I have experienced.
