FILM STAR Ian Mcshane as blackbeard
IAN McShane has joined the cast of a modern retelling of the Jack and the Beanstalk fairy tale.
The Blackburn actor, who plays Blackbeard in the forthcoming Pirates of the Caribbean movie, has signed up alongside Ewan McGregor, Bill Nighy, Nicholas Hoult and Stanley Tucci in Jack the Giant Killer.
The action fantasy adventure will be directed by Bryan Singer, the man behind hit movies The Usual Suspects and X-Men.
McShane will play the king whose daughter is kidnapped by a giant played by Bill Nighy in the film which is scheduled for release in 2012.
