A ‘DANGEROUS’ rapist who attacked a prostitute, then threatened to tie her up, hang her from hooks in the ceiling and take photos of her, failed to overturn his potentially lifelong jail term.
Jason Clegg, 37, of Burton Street, Blackburn, took the woman to his flat for paid for, consensual sex, then told her she was ‘not going anywhere’, and forced her to have sex with him a second time against her will, London’s Criminal Appeal Court heard.
During the 2007 incident, Clegg issued a series of ‘spine-chilling’ threats and pushed his victim repeatedly onto the sofa and the floor if she tried to get up.
Clegg admitted rape and false imprisonment and was sentenced to indefinite imprisonment for public protection at Preston Crown Court in November 2007.
The sentence, reserved for dangerous offenders, means Clegg will not be freed until the Parole Board is convinced it is safe to do so.
His legal team argued he had wrongly been classified as a dangerous offender.
But Mr Justice Ouseley at London’s Criminal Appeal Court, said Clegg planned the attack which had a lasting impact on the woman.
He also pointed out there was still no explanation as to why there had been hooks in the ceiling.
