FANS will be taken into Turf Moor up to two-and-a-half hours before kick-off for the East Lancashire derby match later this month.
Police, along with Clarets and Rovers bosses, have made a raft of changes to normal match-day arrangements to cope with the Turf Moor game on March 28.
All Blackburn Rovers fans will be transported to the ground in coaches and taken directly to the turnstiles from 9.30am, with kick-off not until noon.
Then turnstiles for Burnley fans will open at 10.30am, with officials urging supporters to arrive early for the game.
Bosses said the changes had been made for the 'safety and security of everyone attending the game'.
Officials will also make changes in roads around Turf Moor.
Part of Harry Potts Way and Belvedere Road will be used for Blackburn coaches, meaning Burnley fans will have to take detours around the ground.
Supporters in the James Hargreaves and Jimmy McIlroy stands will use Belvedere Road or Harry Potts Way, and fans in the Bob Lord stand will have to exit left from Turf Moor.
Club officials said car parking would be accessed as normal before the game, except for Higgins Street, which will be a no-parking zone for pedestrian safety.
Supporters using the Harry Potts Way car park will not be able to return to their cars until all coaches have left.
All pubs in the area will be open as normal.
A police spokesman said: “These have been agreed following a series of meetings between senior officials from the two clubs, Lancashire Constabulary and representatives from the Clarets Trust, acting in the interest of Burnley supporters.
"We would ask that all supporters understand these arrangements have been made for the safety and security of everyone attending the game at Turf Moor, which is our primary concern.”

Biggest load of c**p Ive heard since last October. Totally over the top and unneccessary. What are the Blackburn fans going to do once in the ground?. Sounds like parking is going to be difficult and getting home after a pain in the a**se. At least the boozers are open. But then you need a few stiffeners in them to handle games at the Turf nowadays. My prediction Burnley 2- Blackburn1. But it might well be too late in the day now thanks to Kilby and Flood. I dont know the geography around the turf but surely the police could close a few roads, keep fans a good stones throw (literally!) away from edge of road and bus the rovers fans straight to the turnstile and then the buses move away.

If the police did nothing and residents living in the area had windows put through or people fighting on the pavements outside, then they would have a lot to answer for. This way, while it may be over-the-top for the vast majority of supporters of both clubs, the police can ensure that there is little chance of trouble around the ground. Sadly, the few idiots ruin it and inconvenience the many who are just there to enjoy the game and have some friendly banter. It is a sad world we live in.

Hope they sell a decent pint at the Turf these days.We are going to have plenty of time to kill if we are in the ground for 9:30. Ex-forces, couldn't agree more, been to a few auld firm games over the years and the police up the road have got the balance just right. The last time i was in Celtic park i was wearing green and white and sat only twenty empty seats away from the Rangers.Plenty of banter but no trouble.Suppose the Lancashire police aren't as confident as StrathClyde due to the teams not playing each other on a regular basis.Hope the day passes trouble free and we add another away win to our miserable away form.Prediction, depe nds if Allardyce has the balls to go 4-4-2 and take the game to them and goes for the win right from the start. If he does we should have too much for Burnley. On the other hand if he continues with his negative 4-5-1 the unthinkable will probably happen.

15,000 Rovers fans at the Turf in 1977?. I dont think so. The crowd was around 27,500, Rovers had a big following and pockets of their supporters were all over Turf Moor apart from the home section of the Longside.
Id put the away following that day at around 11,000, which is about the same as we took to Ewood later that season.

Those were the days.....still miss the cameraderie but not the kicks and bottles and stones and coins that came at us! Much safer and saner now, just the times back then were more lawless maybe?
I will not condescend to rely to the earlier abusive email. Returning to the Boxing Day 1977 battle at Turf Moor, its true Blackburn were about third in the League and we were near the bottom. But I would still estimate the Rovers following at around 11,000. True they packed out half the Longside ( just a fence no no mans lands in those days) and had groups all over the Turf apart from the Home haLf of the Longside. But these were small groups and scattered all over the place. The game itself was played out in an electric atmosphere with Rovers building up a 0-3 lead in the first half which could have been 0-4 but for a brilliant save by Stevenson. We then forced our way back with goals by Noble and Ingham I think leaving Rovers clinging on for a win in 7 minutes of injury time. Gained our revenge with a 0-1 win at Ewood the following Easter. Outside the ground all hell broke loose with disturbances, running fights, police dogs. Blackburn fans again scattered all over the centre and on the main roads out of town back to Accy and Blackburn. Was some serious disturbances caused by inadequate policing of an admittedly massive following. This maybe explains police attitudes to these games. Ossy Claret

Is that about distance? No. It's about identity, politics and nationality. Rovers and Burnley have a rich history of football and inter town rivalry. Blackburn fans again scattered all over the centre and on the main roads out of town back to Accy and Blackburn. Was some serious disturbances caused by inadequate policing of an admittedly massive following. This maybe explains police attitudes to these games. Ossy ClaretThose were the days.....laced-up shiny red docs, blue silk scarf tied to the wrist, the Rovers lads could take any ground and any crew in the country! We went in ones and twos into the middle of the Burnley fans in the Darwen end before the start of the game, maybe 30 then joined together as soon as the whistle went, we didnt half give the Burnley fans a shock and a bit of a pasting! One of the Rovers fans (Della) was arrested by a PoliceWOMAN (made the front page of the LET) and the police just escorted us out and into the Blackburn end. Those were the days.....still miss the cameraderie but not the kicks and bottles and stones and coins that came at us! Much safer and saner now, just the times back then were more lawless maybe?

I can only presume that one of them must have been the Fartbreaker himself who must have landed on his thick bounce and has never fully recovered. On Boxing Day, you were thoroughly routed and chased out of Burnley.
In 1972 the Police tried to form a barrier on the Riverside to keep fans apart so with 10 mins to go the Rovers fans ran outside the ground instead down Nuttal St and into the Darwen End and attacked the Burnley fans. It filled the front page of the LET for days as Burnley fans were thrown over the wall and a wall collapsed on them. Luckily it was no Hysel. . In 1977 Boxing Day at T'turf 15,000 Rovers fans invaded and it was like battle scenes from Lord Of The Rings all over inside and outside the ground. . After those games we only played about 4 more derbies and the away fans were monitored closely from the coaches and train stations and frog matched to the grounds. . Football has changed a lot since then so its a nice day trip with coach and refreshments for everyone now and plenty of time to spend at the ground and admire the scenery! . Sad but necessary otherwise the events above would be reapeated after a few beers and mob mentality and we all know it! . 31st......

I dont recall it being like thatin the 70s . Was a bit like going to Bolton only on a smaller scale. In 77 frankly off the pitch was the same as on it at the Turf. And what about all those away day run arounds at places like Cardiff, Carlisle, Bolton, Preston etc in the lower leagues. You hate people knowing that dont you! Thankfully as you say most of its gone nowadays! Ossy Claret
