Blackburn Cathedral holds Pakistan debate

AN Oxfam aid worker from Pakistan today took part in a debate at Blackburn Cathedral which was also broadcast live on our website.

Shakar Arbab, who works with the charity in Islamabad, answered questions asked by audience members as well as those posted by viewers watching around the world

Mr Arbab talked about his work on reconstruction programmes in areas hit by earthquake and floods, and said that every pound donated to Oxfam is monitored to ensure it reaches communities which need it.

The panel at the Blackburn Cathedral event, titled 'Does the future of Pakistan matter to us?', also included dialogue development officer Anjum Anwar MBE and Canon Chris Chivers.

Ms Anwar said: "We are all interconnected. What happens in Pakistan is extremely important for our communities in Blackburn and the whole of the UK.

why pakistan? why not africa, china, israel, india, poland, america, ireland ect? oh yeah i forgot, because the town's population has a high proportion of people that still call it home. you gonna scrub this true comment too mr telegraph man?

My thoughts at this moment in time are with the people of Haiti not with a country that kidnap’s children, although I can see why this programme is being done, we do have a lot of ethnic minorities from this country in Blackburn.Does the future of Pakistan matter to me? No I am sorry it does not.

WHY DOES PAKISTAN MATTER TO US
We invade afaginstain for WHAT reason i dont know its just a dump. THE INTRESTING PART the taliban flee to pakistan thanks to the UK & USA now the goverment in pakistan are up **** creek without a padel so yes it does matter. If we stopped fuking in other countries business then they may leave us alone.
