MARKET stall traders and shoppers did a double take yesterday when they thought they saw a royal couple walking through Blackburn.

However ‘Prince Harry’ and ‘Meghan Markle’ turned out to be lookalikes, who had been on a North West tour of markets for the Love Your Local Market campaign before the official royal wedding tomorrow.

The pair, Sarah Mhlanga and Henry Morley, chatted with stallholders and customers throughout the afternoon of their visit.

Children from Griffin Park Primary School in Blackburn managed to grab a quick selfie with the pair.

Shopper Pat Johnson, from Blackburn, said: “It was good to see the children's interest.

“I would think the big day will be watched by a large proportion of East Lancashire.

“The younger royals have helped the whole family reach out to a younger generation of people.”

Breweries across East Lancashire have decided they would quench thirsts for the big day and have created special wedding-themed beers.

Blackburn-based Thwaites’ brewery has started serving their ‘Ginger Wedman’ golden ale, at 4.4 per cent strength.

Moorhouse’s, in Burnley has created the ‘Just Harried’, a pale ale at 3.8 per cent strength.

There are no planned official street parties in the borough, compared to seven when William and Kate tied the knot in 2011.

However BBC Radio Lancashire has decided to hold its own ‘wedding breakfast’ programme featuring presenter Graham Liver.

In Rossendale, there have been six applications for grant funding for a party, one of which included an application for a road closure.

Meanwhile, Hyndburn Council has received three applications for road closures to allow street parties, compared to 11 in 2011.

The funding applications have ranged from neighbours' street parties, a party for Brownies and a party for residents with learning disabilities.

Harry and Meghan’s big day will clash with the FA Cup Final as well as the start of Ramadan.
