A SUPERMARKET is in the process of upgrading its travelator.

Work has begun on the travelator in the Blackburn town centre branch of Morrisons.

A spokesman for Morrisons said: “The travelator has been in place since the store opened so it is being replaced.

“It is a considerable investment and is due to be completed at the end of March.”

It comes following last year’s major revamp.

Customers were asked their opinions of the Railway Road shop and the company used their ideas to draw up plans for the six-week transformation.

The works included a refreshed customer cafe with children’s play area, free Wi-Fi for those customers and Amazon lockers to collect online purchases.

The supermarket also installed a better-equipped baby-changing facility, a larger world food section and extra halal products, including hot rotisserie chicken, as well as an expanded ‘Free From’ range specialising in gluten, wheat and dairy free products for customers with allergies to these products.

The revamp also included a Morrisons one-stop Party Zone shop,a new laundrette at the front of the store, a new community room near the store’s lifts and improvements to the car park.

Store manager Simon Hulley said: “We’ve listened to our customers and used what they’ve said as a guide to the changes we’re making.”

He added: “We’re really excited about what the store will look like once we’ve finished as it’ll have something for everyone, from the kids’ play area in the cafe to the community room for groups and Party Zone for families.”
