TWO members of staff at The Mall Blackburn are digging out their thermals for a charity sleep out.

Ask Me Point Supervisor, Jason Cothliff, and his colleague Carley Mckenna, will join fundraisers from across the county to sleep on King William Street, outside The Mall, on Friday December 1.

They are doing it to raise money for Blackburn based Nightsafe which supports homeless young people.

The pair will arrive with just a cardboard box, sleeping bag and warm clothing to protect them on the cold December night.

The event will start at 9pm and finish at 6am, when a hot breakfast will be served in Nightsafe’s Platform 5 Day-Centre.

Mr Cothliff said: “Nightsafe does such a fantastic job supporting young homeless people.

“I know it won’t be easy, but I am sure it will be worth it in the end.”

Miss Mckenna said: “When I agreed to sign up to the sleep-out it was still quite mild outside….but now we have had a few freezing nights I am getting very nervous.”

The charity has 650 volunteers and has helped more than 12,500 young people since it was formed in 1990.
